SkyCraft: Skyrim played as a Minecraft player

SkyCraft makes you play Skyrim like a Minecraft player: you move with Minecraft's physics across Skyrim's terrain, place and break blocks everywhere, and fight the game's NPCs with Minecraft's weapons. Neither game is rewritten.

Overview

Minecraft runs in the background via an SKSE plugin and a Fabric mod connected by shared memory, while Skyrim displays everything. The Minecraft world is shared in multiplayer (up to 100 players), with mined loot and rising skills. The PlayPadHub zip contains the French guide and shortcuts to the official downloads, with no game files.

What the merge adds

  • Minecraft's movement (running, jumping, swimming, falling) applied to Skyrim's terrain and buildings
  • Placeable and breakable blocks throughout Skyrim, lit by Minecraft's torches and lava
  • The ability to mine Skyrim's ground, rocks, and roads: loot drops as blocks (dirt, stone with ores, bedrock) and the hole is real
  • Fights against Skyrim's NPCs with Minecraft's weapons, bows and TNT included, with NPCs fighting back
  • Skyrim skills that level up through Minecraft practice: One-handed, Two-handed, Archery, Block, Smithing, Heavy Armor, and Sneak
  • A Minecraft multiplayer (up to 100 players) where only the world, blocks, items, and mobs are shared

Installation pas à pas

  1. Check that you own Skyrim Special Edition (Anniversary Edition runtime) and Minecraft: Java Edition, legally purchased.
  2. Install SKSE64 then the Address Library for SKSE Plugins, essential to launch SkyCraft.
  3. Download the SkyCraft archive from the GitHub versions page, then install it as an SKSE plugin with Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex.
  4. Install Alternate Start - Live Another Life to avoid the Skyrim opening freeze.
  5. Launch Skyrim via SKSE: the first time, SkyCraft prepares Minecraft and a Prism Launcher window asks you to sign in with your Microsoft account.
  6. Return to Skyrim: Minecraft starts in the background with your SkyCraft world, linked to Skyrim's world. Play, mine, build, and level up.

Our tips

  • Install Alternate Start: Skyrim's opening (the cart and Helgen) is heavily scripted and can freeze you with SkyCraft.
  • Press O for the Minecraft menu, then “Open to LAN” and “Start LAN World” to play with friends via the generated e4mc link.
  • The “Skyrm Destruction” checkbox (top left of the pause menu) disables mining of Skyrim's terrain.
  • Budget about 3 GB of additional RAM to run Minecraft in the background alongside Skyrim.
  • Keep a copy of your saves: the project is experimental and updates come quickly.

Security and legality

Experimental fan-made project: save your saves before any installation. SkyCraft creates a separate Minecraft world and rewrites neither game. Download only from the official GitHub repository. Only download this project from SkyCraft and keep a copy of your saves. PlayPadHub is not affiliated with any publisher or mod author. The mentioned brands belong to their oopriétaires.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need to own both games?

Yes. SkyCraft is free and open source, but it launches your legitimate copy of Skyrim Special Edition and an instance of Minecraft: Java Edition (via a Microsoft account).

Is multiplayer really playable?

Yes. The Minecraft world is shared among up to 100 players via e4mc, with loot and progression. Each keeps their own Skyrim world, NPCs, and quests.

Are my saves protected?

SkyCraft doesn't alter Skyrim destructively and keeps the Minecraft world separate, but the project is experimental: save your saves before each update, as the author recommends.
